Inspired by another thread...

Does anybody know any good dog-walking beaches?

two of our favourites are Derby Pool, Wallasey, Wirral; and Formby, just south of Southport on Merseyside. Both have sandhills for bounding about and 'hunting' stuff, and neither have a 'no dogs' policy at any time of the year (though please do pick up after your dog - many dogs use these beaches, so if everybody left their 'waste' lying about, they'd be unbearable!)

Any closer to home Strix?

We go to skeggy - and cleethorpes to let ours run riot - always best when we are on our own on there

Jaq - you're bang in the middle of the country where you are! Wink

it's six and two threes as to which direction you head in when you set off from home! (Which is why we went west instead of east last time)

We love Allonby beach in Cumbria went in November.
Filey beach is huge and very wide when the tide is out.
We like Cleethorpes not far either.
Want to take the doglets to Wales i believe there are some fab beaches.

Our ALbert not bothered about beaches though not enough smells or things to wee on (can you see a pattern see my embarrassed dog moment post Embarassed ) he Once wee'd on someones beach ball they were playing with as nothing to mark for miles lol another embarassing moment

We went to Mablethorpe yesterday, first time I've been there myself and Hunny loved it, galloping about on the sand and then into the sea for a paddle! Some sand dunes to play in too. Would imagine it is too busy in the summer months but at this time of the year it wan't very busy at all. We felt happy letting Hunny off lead the entire time. We didn't hear a peep out of her all evening! Took us about an hour and twenty minutes to get there.

ooo - we've stayed at mablethorpe years ago

Haven allow dogs on their sites - and they have a site at mablethorpe (though they charge you extra and put you in their worst accommodation - but that's another story Rolling Eyes )

Not that i am telling you to fib but..... we went to Filey in the Autum for a sun weekend break and it was mega cheap.

I phoned to ask about taking the dogs and they wanted £30 per dog the whole break only cost me £30 so we hid the car around the corner while i checked in and didnt pay. It was fine and if we had paid the money i would have been well cheesed off the van was not exctly sparkling so if we had been even more down graded i would have not been happy.

The dogs loved walking along the cliffs into Filey it was a lovely break, even though i was not well so it does not always pay to be honest especially if its out of season Embarassed

If we hadn't blacklisted them completely I think I'd be adopting your method in future Kay Wink

We use the centenary way campsite in Filey. Dogs are no extra cost, and there is a track down to the beach which isn't too hilly either which is fab as it is terrible to park down there during high season. They even have a dog walk on the site for doggy toileting with a pooh bin. A great idea as i hate taking the dogs for wee's on campsites have never got over Albert weeing on someones tent Embarassed yet another embarassing moment caused by his weeing Very Happy
