Details from the Sheffield Council web site

https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/environment/how-we-work/environmental-serv/animal-warden-control/micro-chip-service

The Animal Control Service now offer a service for Micro chipping dogs and cats.

The benefits of having a micro chip implanted in your dog or cat are:

* Permanent identification of your dog or cat in case of loss or theft.

* Chips used comply with the requirements of the new Pet Travel Scheme, thus preventing quarantine from being imposed on a cat or dog on return to this country (other requirements are necessary to comply fully with the scheme).

* It is likely that micro chipping will become compulsory under new legislation, which is being considered.

It costs just £15 per animal to get your pet micro chipped for life. Or, if you are receiving any kind of benefit you may be eligable for a free micro chip for your dog.

Sheffield City Council does not make a profit from this service as the aim is for animals to be identified easily.

If you would like information on the Micro Chipping Scheme, then please contact the Animal Control Service on 0114 2037 410, 0114 2037 411, or 0114 2037 415.
