Hia
My name is Jacquie - and I am a volunteer with Rain Rescue. I spend most of my time trying to help any dog or cat in need.
Been with RR for about 3 years now - between myself and Sue - we run the web site and promote the site wherever we can. We get about 6000 hits each week now and by doing it - help other rescues rehome their pets.
I often have the odd 1, 2 or more rescue dogs at home with me, but try not to have too many. What I try to do is find places for dogs that are on the pound list that can't find a space - but what I mostly enjoy is trying to help other rescues get something special that they need or are stuck for.
I have 4 dogs of my own. 2 Mastiff crosses and 2 english bull terriers (otherwise known as The Nightmares), all who are kept well away from my 10 (or so) feral or just unsociable cats. Couple of geese and chickens with a cockeral.
Next entry into our family will be a male and 2 females turkies _________________ Order your pet supplies online and support Rain Rescue

My nickname is Strix
I 'met' Jaq via a local general interest forum, having been daft enough to volunteer to foster the dog of another forumer who was struggling with her circumstances after one of her two dogs suffered a spinal injury. Some of you may already be familiar with King's story. Occasionally I foster for Jaq now.
I have one dog - a pedigree beagle from a breeder who not only has a lifetime returns policy, but also offers kenneling facilities to the Beagle Welfare and had a puppy farmed dog at her kennels last time I spoke to her. Brude helps me to train the dogs who come to stay with us - it's surprising how much quicker they learn when they have another dog to copy rather than just trying to figure out what a human is trying to make them do!
Having looked after a pet forum on the local general interest forum I realised that I was becoming disillusioned with the number of people who thought their pup bitch 'would make a fantastic mother' or who's evidently dominant pup dog 'needs a girlfriend/loves the ladies' or better still, those who believed that their dog HAD to be rehomed because there's a baby on the way so I offered to run a forum here at RainRescue
My particular interest is the relationship between lack of training and the trend for rehoming, hence my preference for fostering dogs with a need for some basic training and socialisation, and my habit of offering advice on apparently tangential issues when somebody posts about a dog they are having trouble with
I hope you enjoy reading our new forum, and feel comfortable enough here to make a contribution yourself
If you have any queries or issues with the forum, I'm happy to address them via pm

Hi there,
I'm not anyone particularly special and because of my current lifestyle I'm sadly not even in the position to be the proud owner of a dog.
However, I have helped walk a couple of the dogs at Rain Rescue and I simply want to take this opportunity to commend Jacquie for all the amazing and tireless work that she does in helping these poor mistreat animals.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to help out again sometime soon but in the meantime I wish you all the best in your endeavors

But the fact you're here tells us you care, and you can still help out with things like poster campaigns, spreading the word about adopting rescue animals, do homechecks, walk dogs occasionally, and tell all your friends and family to use our 'gateway' to many of the retailers they may be shopping with anyway this Christmas (see my signature)
(if you're really clever, you can add it as your signature to all your emails )

Hello, my name is Sarah, i live in Newcastle upon Tyne, i have 2 young sons and i'm looking to adopt a dogue de bordeaux. After doing some research on the net, and buying books and a dvd about the breed i fell for them.
I fortunatly have a friend who owns a DDB and who often comes over to our house so the kids and dog can have a good play together, we started doing this to get the boys use to large dogs, as well as to get Buster used to children. It all went really well and although Buster is a very big dogue the boys and him are fantastic together. Where possible I will help out in anyway i can . _________________ looking to adopt a DDB, mastiff or dane.

Hi Sarah Welcome to the RainRescue forum
did you spot our section for homes available for dogs?
would you like to post your home there for any rescue who may have a suitable dog available to read?

Hi and thanks for your offer, I have been homechecked for the MIND rescue a couple of weeks back, and have been asked to go down to liverpool to meet the dogs they have there the lady i spoke to said she has a few that she thinks will be great for me and the kids. I've been asked to go down this week as its the half term but I dont know if i'd be able to or not. I'll wait and see what happens this week and then get back to you about putting my house details down - if thats ok _________________ looking to adopt a DDB, mastiff or dane.

Oooo - an excuse to go to Liverpool? *jealous*
I do hope you find a dog who fits into your family when you go there
if you do post on the other section, you don't need to put any more than you've put here

Hi - I am Naomi and I somehow found Rain Rescue a while back on the internet - I can't remember when exactly (must be my age !) Because I am hundreds of miles away (in Aberdeenshire) I am limited in what I can offer in the way of help - but as one of the people who are truly interested in helping there seems to be a network of us that can link together when needed. I have 8 dogs in our household (me & my long suffering OH - Steve) and all but 2 are rescues or little accidents ! I have owned dogs for about - well for a very long time - and they are an integral part of my life now. There is always something to learn about them whether it is behavourial or health issues and regrettably there are a lot of them needing a decent home. I am very very pleased to be a member of this forum and hope to find some more like minded folk on here

Hello,
I'm Babs and I "met" Jacquie through anoher forum. She has very kindly helped out with some crates so that myself and some other volunteers can move poundies to safety.
I'm primarily a transporter but I also homecheck/assess and have fostered- without failing to date
I have two springers and five goldfish. I love cats but so, unfortunately, do my spaniels but in a different way
If I can help out at all in the Beds/Bucks/Northants/Cambs area then please shout out and I'll do what I can.

Hello!
My name is Rebecca and I am lucky enough to have adopted a beautiful Ridgeback x Staffie called Hunny from Rain Rescue in February of this year. Hunny has been a bit of a challange as she had a few issues to iron out some of which we are still working on but she has also enriched our lives beyond believe and we feel very privileged to be able to call oursleves her Mummy and Daddy.
My husband and I like to spend our spare time exploring with Hunny but are also keen on exploring the world and are currently taking our PADI open water dive qualification. We have an extended family living close by and Hunny loves to spend time with her Grandma and Uncle Rob (my Mum and her partner) and her Aunty, Uncle and cousin (my sister, her partner and my nephew!). We have also been lucky enough to have the continuing support and friendship of Mr and Mrs Strix and Brude who have kindly let Hunny stay whilst we went on the holidays we already had booked with our family.
I will post some pictures of Hunny on the photo section - as you will see she is a beauty. Hunny is not just beautiful she is also by far the most intelligent dog we have ever come across and both of us have had dogs all our lives! It is amazing to see how quickly she picks things up but can also mean that it is hard work keeping her stimulated mentally! This intelligence has also made it harder to train her fears out of her as she thinks too much for herself. Since she came to us at the end of February we have been taking her to a professional trainer on a weekly basis and she has commented that in her 20 years plus of experience she has rarely met a dog as bright as Hunny. As part of her training Hunny has done some agility work over obstacles etc and her trainer commented that she picked things up a lot more quickly than most of the dogs that she had trained solely for agility competitions who didn't have any of the other issues to deal with. Yes I am bragging about Hunny, sorry but I am so proud of her achievements!
That's enough about us then! Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Well, I'm Steelmoggy 'cos I live in Sheffield and like cats.
This is a great idea - well done to everyone concerned.
All of my fur family have come from rescues or strays - hope you don't mind a cat fan wandering in off the street!

Hi, I'm Jennifer.
I'm currently on my gap year after having completed my A Levels this summer. I've suddenly come across lots of spare time now that i dont have all this studying to do (not complaining ). I want to do something useful during my gap year and i thought volunteering to help animals would be fun and rewarding. I dont have any pets at the moment after having recently lost both my guinea-pigs AND the family cat. The house is quiet now. I thought fostering a dog would be perfect, however, my dad doesnt want his house smelling like dog . I keep insisting that not all dogs smell if you groom them and clean them!Instead, i thought I'd get out of the house and help. Any offers?Send them my way! I live in Millhouses (south Sheffield) and have my own transport. Dog walking, dog sitting, kennel cleaning...ANYTHING...I'll help. I work part-time in an office, but have many free hours in which I'm lost for what to do!
Thanks ever so much and I hope to get aquianted with you guys!
