I would like to volunteer a day a week in a rescue kennels but do not drive, so would be relying on rescues to have good public transport access. I live on the Wirral, so whole of Merseyside area is a possibility. xx

does that mean you're accessible by train dogprincess?

... or could we twist your arm into being a fosterer instead? Wink

Are you close to the Dogs Trust over your way?
I am sure they could use a good volunteer and usually have a decent bus route to get to you

i think you are too far away from us in south yorkshire to come over

but thanks for the offer - so many need helpers

Did you manage to get any volunteer work your way? Or has the cold weather and the thought of a tempting holiday delayed your starting a bit?

wish you were over here - we would snap you up

I'm seriously considering fostering.... Wink

Still doing what I can, taking the poundies some toys today, and have been going MDH a few times in last few wks as have been up that way. Don't want to start volunteer work this wk and then be away for 2, looks a bit unreliable.

Yes it's the RSPCA on Leasowe Rd, I have a friend who works there, they are over run with volunteers with it being a big official place, I think it's the smaller rescues who are desperate for help aren't they.

I am accessible by train, station is a 20 min walk away but in town so very safe and easy to get to.

Thanks everyone xxx

good idea gemma
what about i find out what this old one is at sheffield?

i don't know anything otgher than its a dog, 13 yrs old and freezing
so desperately trying to get him in somewhere.

i would pay any costs he may incur, but need someone i can trust that won't run huge vet bills up for the rescue that we haven't got

have your hols, i will find out and see what he like - you never know we may be able to bring him round, and then rehome him somewhere too

there are a few rescues which may be accessible for you listed here:
http://www.dogpages.org.uk/nth-west.htm
but it looks like the big nationals have your neck of the woods well covered enough for the independents to be a bit thin on the ground Confused

Freshfields would be a bit out of your way wouldn't it?

If you do fancy fostering - this old guy that I have got in is GORGOUES

the most amenable friendly chap EVER

we could get him over to you - he is lab/collie size but so doddery and gentle
plus if things didn't work out, we could look for a more longer term home from you

he gets on with everything and everyone
we called him RUDDI - after rudolph - (thanks to hoochi)
