Rescue Helpers Unite Walk For Animals

RHU Walk For Animals

The RHU Walk For Animals is something that as a forum we plan to help as many animal rescues and charities as possible, whilst advertising and promoting RHU at the same time.

What exactly is it?

RHU Walk For Animals is going to hopefully be a yearly event that people from John o'Groats to Lands End walk/cycle/ride/jog and cover the 875+ miles. Each person who participates MUST have an animal in tow. Whether people ride horses, cycle with a dog, walk with a snake. you could even dress up in fancy dress. It really doesnt matter. Even if people can only cover half a mile it really will help.

An RHU Trophy will start at John o'Groats, then will be passed along untill Lands End, where we hope to organise national newspapers and TV for the final finishline (possibly local coverage on the way). Each changeover will be covered pictorilly, and ideally all supporters will be required to hand out posters on their travels and people can use/hold collection buckets for raising for the chosen animal rescue/charity.

When will it be started?

We are hoping to start it on the 1st May 2008

When will the trip be completed?

all being well, we hope it to be completed by September 2008.

Just a little update really

6 people so far have emailed for application forms and sponsorship forms

Remember ANYONE can enter and raise money for any animal rescue or charity of
their choice, whether it be this forum or a rescue involved with this forum.

Several people are saying its too far from them. if thats the case still apply its free
and takes 5 minutes, but helps me to manage postcodes to get closer to people.

so remember if your not close still apply. this has the potential to raise thousands for
rescues and all money you raise goes to your animal rescue/charity.

so the more people the rescues get to do it, the more money they raise.

For any that are wondering 'whats the catch' and why arent i charging etc its simple
RHU gain more members and more publicity which then helps more people join the databases
for fostering homechecking and transport and then the more rescues will benefit.

it really is that easy so whether its half a mile hopping or 10 mile horse trek why not help rescues?

kathryngolightly@hotmail.co.uk for any of the emails that are bouncing

the pitlochry to kinross leg is looking attractive, but we're not sure fuzzy chops is going to be up to it at that time Sad

I'll keep an eye on this thread though Smile

ahhh - we're not allowed out without our trusty hound to lead the way Diggle

you know what beagles can be like Rolling Eyes

put us down for a 'maybe', and if we can share a leg then so much the better Smile

This really is a brilliant feat to tackle

Can't see me or any of my lot managing that far - but would be interested in being involved if we can.

Wonder how we could rally some more support via Rain followers on either here or the SF Strix?
