Kira barked for 40 minutes when I went to bed till 3.15am I daren't set foot out of the house today for fear of being chased down the rd by angry and exhausted neighbours Kira hates the crate, that is going to need working on, she won't eat if I put her food in it, so ideas would be most welcome for getting her used to it.
She has wolfed down some wheatabix, had a couple of sly wee's that I never saw, chased my cats and is now enjoying a nice cuddle with me, she is a people dog she is lovely
Here are some pics as promised.

Sleepy Kira
Not brilliant pics but she's such a wriggle bum she's to quick for the camera _________________

I remeber picking up dodge and getting him crate trained so you have my sypothies.
I spent more nights that i care to remeber trying to get him to be quiet, one night i atcually sat there and everytime he made a noise flicked water on him, he did eventally get the point.
Have you tryed covering her up?????
That might help symbolise its night time and time for sleeps, i cover my crates at night (Dodge and my foster if i have one) and it seems to work ok.
Good luck and persevere it will be worth it, it just a battle of wills at the moment xxxx _________________

I thought about covering the crate too, I will definitely try it I have loads of throws vegetating in the upstairs cupboard that I can put to use... she will like the crate if its the last thing I do... lets hope its not _________________

Well night 2 went fairly well only barking for 10 mins or so and then a really peaceful night until Meg decided to wake everyone up this morning
I did as you suggested Kay and covered the crate with a brown throw, don't know if that made the difference or just Kira settling down a bit.
Kira was really good she has a puppy training pad in her crate and I haven't needed to change that yet, she raced out with the others this morning and did a wee and poo outside, then later a wee on the mat never mind I'm still very pleased with her... she has the makings of a really good dog I think, and I think she is loving having her very own human, she seems really happy, and so am I _________________

It's surprising how quickly they come on with the right attention isn't it?
She's going to be a fantastic dog
what does Durham think so far?

She's coming on great, she has to be one of the easiest puppies I ever had up to now I almost feel I jinxed myself by saying that now
Owd Durham he couldn't care less, so long as she doesn't torment him and his life stays pretty much the same... as it has done really, he is happy, he just gets on with it.
It's obviously been good for Kira to have been with her brothers and sister for so long as she is very "doggie polite" her manners are quite good she doesn't push it at all, of course that might change as time goes by, we shall see.
Durham snapped at her once when she was desperately leaping up and down by the side of him trying to get on my knee but it was just a silent warning, no nips or anything... poor Kira ran behind the chair
My dogs have been very accepting much more than I could have hoped for really, they are not her best friends but then neither do they show any dislike of her, I guess she is just not important to them and thats a lot better than the alternative I think.
All in all I'm very pleased _________________

Yes she is from a litter of 8 she is the only short haired one, the others were absolutely beautiful, all rough/long haired, and all black, bar one gorgeous blue roan boy... I was seriously tempted by him but I knew a girl would be better, and I really liked Kira too, and I did right didn't I .
Wish I had taken pics of the others too, they are on the council website but the pics do them no justice at all, in the flesh they are truly all unbelievably gorgeous.
They were there for a week, you were just to slow Helen _________________

when we had Ruby it took 2 weeks for her to go through the night and i have to admit for the 2 weeks we shared sleeping in the lounge while she was in the crate. Over the 2 weeks we gradually reduced the time we slept downstairs for until she was completely alone, we never interacted with her though while in the lounge. We only did it this way though as she was one with the will of a true terrier i.e. never shut up until they get what they want lol. It worked though and she was fine from then onwards.
We also crated her during the day for periods and left the room so she got used to it that way also. We had a gentle ticking clock nearby and the radio quietly on behind a closed door. she also had a blanket that was hers, she got used got used to only being on the blanket i.e. wherever the blanket was placed was her place to sit. I know this sounds hard core but she was a mess and a little nightmare at first but it worked and she has since gone on to be a beautifully well balanced adult dog. she was 10 months when she came to us. Stick with it it will be worth it but i know what you mean it is nerve wracking when they are noisy at night xxxx
