Here is a link to the Sheffield Council site - they do post dogs up here sometimes that they have in.

https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/environment/how-we-work/environmental-serv/animal-warden-control/lost-and-found-dogs

Their instructions for lost and found dogs are

Did you know that you can be prosecuted if you find a stray dog and don't do something about it. You should either;

*
Return it to its owner (if possible)
*
Contact the Animal Control Service and have it collected.
*
Hand it in it to a Police Station.

Alternatively, you could opt to keep hold of the dog and look after it yourself until its owner comes forward. Should you choose to do this, you must contact the Animal Control Service to obtain further information.

The Animal Control Service keeps a database register of all dogs that are lost or found and reported to us.

If your dog becomes lost, then contact the Animal Control Service to:

1. See if they have had it reported as found.

2. See if they have had any reports of it being seen in an area.

3. Report it as lost, in which case, the Animal Control Service will inform you if they either find it or get it reported as being found.

4. Receive other contact information in case your dog may have ended up out of Sheffield.

You can also visit our kennels to see if your dog has been taken there. You will need an appointment and you can obtain one by calling 0114 2930 362.

Please note that if we have picked up your dog you will have to pay a fee to have it returned.

Contact the service on 0114 2037 410, 0114 2037 411 or 0114 2037 415.
