Not strictly rescue but kind of......
Murphy was called Reggie and belonged to my Mam. It started when her yorkshire terrier died, she was heart broken and my cousins rotty had had pups she saw them and fell in love with the little fluffballs.
When they were old enough she bought one. It wasnt long before I started getting phoone calls about how he was a baddy and weed and pood and chewed everything in sight. She even complained when she put him outside and he pulled clumps of grass up and smashed a garden orniment. I told her he was only a baby and of course there is a BIG difference between owning a Rotty and a Yorkie that she had got when he was a bit older and had already been house trained.
A couple of months passed with her still moaning about him when I spoke to my brother and found out she had been keeping Murphy in a cat carrier over night so he couldnt wonder round the house weeing and pooing and chewing things up. ( the cat carrier was big enough to squeeze him into but without him being able to move at all )
That was it I rang my Mam and told her to get his things together and we were coming to collect him and I would look after him until we could find him a suitable new home. OH YEAH !!!! Everyone fell in love with him, the kids changed his name from Reggie to Murphy and it looked like we had got ourselves a Rotty.
He was such a baddy, he did wee and poo and chew EVERYTHING, but I let him get away with far too much because of what he had gone through. Eventually one day no poo or wee and he has been like that ever since. He is a fantastic house dog now BUT not a very good outside dog, taking him for a walk is a nightmare but with patience iv tought him to sit and he is begining to ( just a little bit) listen outside.
AND.....wait for this Strix........ I have photo evidence of him playing with Levis Akita yesterday YES playing and chasing each other round the house and not one single growl

You'll bring that dog right eventually
He's a lovely dog. Shame he didn't get the chance to get confident with other dogs early in life
I'm ded impressed at him playing with another dog
Sorry about Hunny trying to wind your Akita Storm up yesterday
Shane had tight hold of her when we skirted past

Just read your story Litha , poor boy thankfully you knew of his plight - so many just get hidden away with problems like this.
Have you ever tried a Canny Collar for walking him out of doors with? I have one if you wanted to bring him over, I would show you how to walk him with it - (well you can do it), and i will show you. (not into them telling me off these big guys)
They are marvellous and can make the difference out of being dragged everywhere - or going for a nice walk.
see more info of them also on our web site www.e-k9.co.uk_________________ Order your pet supplies online and support Rain Rescue

Iv just had a look and Ill send for one, mind you im hoping after his snip he will be better. I dont actually walk him now Shane does because he broke 2 of my fingers a year or so ago when he shot after a yappy yorkshire terrier that wasnt on a lead. ( and he wasnt even fully grown then )
we take him out late at night when there arnt many distractions, he still a nightmare but IS deff making a little improvement.
Thankyou for your offer thats lovely, Ill let you know if we dont get the hang of the coller when it comes

GOOD on you Litha
the biggest thing to remember is
keep your arm down by your side - straight - no pressure and no tension
he MUST walk at your leg - not in front - not behind - no if's or buts about it. the minute he goes in front, tweak/sqeeze him back to your leg.
he will drag his nose on the floor and rip at it with his claws. you need to be on top of this, and walk him through it.
once he realises- the pressure stops when he relaxes - he will work it out.
The minute he tries to pull - change direction - so he forgets where he is actually pulling you off to.
its a dominance thing - he needs to be in front, cos he is on protection duty - checking out if there are any enemies coming to attack you
so, by him walking at your side - he is relaxing that watch - which is hard for him to do.
It will be hard for the first few times, but rather than pack in with it, or not get it right in the first place - i am happy for you to pop over - then the strength of your hubby will ensure you get there with it.
Saying that - i took clifford for the snip 2 hall court this morning, he dragged me all over the place cos he wasn't on one. He too rips it off, but it will work on him in the long term
good luck _________________ Order your pet supplies online and support Rain Rescue

There is not much of you to see in the photo - so the evil yellow hair is not very noticeable - cos he is mega huge !! - I bet you are able to sit for long with him on your lap
