This is the info about Stray dogs in Sheffield

https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/environment/how-we-work/environmental-serv/animal-warden-control/stray-dogs

Local Authorities and the Police have a responsibility to deal with stray dogs. A stray is defined as a dog that is unaccompanied and uncontrolled in public areas or in private places without permission.

There are some 500,000 dogs nationally that roam the streets on a daily basis after being let out by their owners. These dogs are responsible for motor accidents, nuisances such as scavenging from bins, and fouling.

If you have a problem with a stray dog, contact the Animal Control Service and we will try to help.

If your dog is seized as a stray dog by the Animal Control Service, the costs for retrieval are as follows:-

* First 2 days = £55
* 3rd Day = £63
* 4th Day = £71
* 5th Day = £79
* 6th Day = £87
* 7th Day = £95

Everyday thereafter will be charged at £8 per day.

Plus any veterinary treatment required for the dog.

If, after seven clear days, the dog has not been reclaimed, it will become the property of Sheffield City Council.

It pays to be a responsible dog owner, for further advice contact the service on 0114 2037 410, 0114 2037 411 or 0114 2037 415.
